Cooling tower fill provides sheets of material that form a corrugated pattern for water to flow through. It can be combined and stacked into blocks to create various thicknesses and heights to suit individual cooling towers.
The biggest disadvantage of film filling is that it provides no opportunity for water redistribution. The initial water distribution at the top of the fill must be even or the process will not work properly. The tight spacing created by the narrow channels of the film fill also makes the film fill more difficult to maintain. If the water contains large debris like leaves, the filling can easily clog.
