1. Operation Principle:
The LED distance digital ultrasonic fuel level sensor adopts sonar ranging principle. The sensor that sticked at the surface of the tank will collect the sonar signals and calculate the exact level of the liquid by professional sonar processing technology, advanced high-speed signal processing technology and the patented algorithm. The value shall be displayed at the site and at the same time transmitted to the control center via 4~20mA analog signals, HART, or RS485. It can also be calibrated locally via HART, RS-485 and infrared.
As can see from the above figure, the sensor transmites the sonar signals and then receives the echo signals after reflected from the liquid surface. Then the time taken shall be calculated out via one specific algorithm. And the system shall figure out the liquid height via the forumla below:
H=αV(t-t1)/2
H: height of the liquid
v: velocity of sound in the liquid
t: time between transmitted and received signal
t g : propagation time in the tank wall
α :liquid compensation factor
