The firmness of the pulp is very important to the fruit grower. The harvest date of the fruit is determined by measuring the pulp, including the date of shipment or storage time to different customer countries. The test is very reliable and can be performed easily and non-destructively.

Measuring principle
The technician should take two measurements on opposite sides of each fruit, for example, on the sunny side and the shaded side. The measuring point should be flat and there should be no faults in the peel. With this instrument the user can see the yield of the fruit under a certain and constant pressure and at a defined measuring distance. The indicated measurement is a quotient. For this reason, it is absolutely important that the user always pays attention to the anvils used for hardness testing. The anvil will not penetrate the peel of the fruit.
