Swing feeder is also called roller screen or disc screen.

Swing feeders provide two functions in one unit: feeding at a controlled rate, and rejecting fines from the feed. These feeders are ideal for wet, sticky materials where fines need to be peeled or stuck to larger pieces. They also do a good job of removing materials with a high clay content. Oscillating feeders can be used to feed and debark material in aggregate and mineral processing applications.

Used before the primary crusher, the oscillating feeder does not perform well where other feeders and debarkers are too wet and sticky. Due to the unique concept design and mode, they can obtain sufficiently clean products; the output products will be suitable for the next crushing stage. Since the transport of material is horizontal, subsequent crushers are fed slowly and continuously.

How Swing Feeders Work

The Wobbler Feeder consists of a frame, an elliptical rod and a chain drive system for rotating the rod. The bars are oval and at 90-degree angles to adjacent bars. The drive system maintains 90-degree timing by linking all rods through a double or triple chain connected to a sprocket on each rod. This keeps the gap or opening between the rods at the same size throughout the rotation of the rods. As the material moves from the feed end to the discharge end, large pieces of material are forced to move up and down within the load, rubbing against each other. This action forces any sticky material (such as clay) out and allows it to pass through the opening between the rods. The rotation of the rod also moves the material from the feed end to the discharge end and scrubs continuously the entire distance.

Since scalping feed reduces the amount of material going to the primary crusher, it also reduces the size and capacity of the crusher required.
